Martin J. Fishman
September 7, 1971 - October 20, 2019
Martin “Marty” Fishman, 48, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2019, after a lengthy battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Marty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Hofstra University. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design from Al Collins Graphic Design School where he fostered his love of music and art. After living in Arizona where he worked as a graphic designer for nearly ten years, Marty returned to his childhood home and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his niece and nephews. They could always count on their Uncle Marty to introduce them to a good movie, good music or just a good laugh. Among Marty’s many gifts were his loyal and generous heart, his love of art, reading, music, his cats and his family. Marty always had time to listen and to share sage wisdom with anyone who asked. Seeing the world through Marty’s artistic eye taught us all to see the beauty in the ordinary and the light in the dark. Marty is survived by his parents, Jill and Gary Fishman, his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Claire Fishman, their children Benjamin, Samuel and Connor, his sister and brother-in-law Beth and Mike Brown and their children, Patrick and Kathryn. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or an organization devoted to research in mental health. He will be greatly missed by his adoring extended family, his cats, Angelina and Mitzi, and his wonderful and supportive network of friends. Relatives and Friends are invited to gather on Wednesday October 23, 2019 at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 347 Route 79, Marlboro, NJ 07746, from 12:30pm - 1pm and a funeral service will take place at 1pm.
